To welcome more students and teachers, the DMA offers bus scholarships to all Title 1 schools visiting the Museum for either a guided or self-guided visit.  

Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis for schools demonstrating need. We look at Title I status (now and in the past) of your school/organization as well as the reasoning provided for the need; priority will be given to Title I schools.  

The scholarship is paid after the visit. Schools must book their own buses. Scholarships are subject to availability. 

Teachers should follow the Application Step-by-Step Guide below to apply for bus funding. Incomplete applications cannot be processed, and applications need to be submitted at least three weeks before the Museum visit. 

• Bus scholarships are available to all Title 1 schools.
• Dallas ISD schools may apply for a bus scholarship for all grades except 4th grade, whose Museum visits are funded by Dallas ISD directly.
• Award amounts are determined by the number of students attending. 
• Bus Scholarships are used to reimburse schools for their bus trip to the Museum. It is not used to pay the bus company directly. Schools must book their buses.
• Schools are responsible for arranging and paying for bus transportation and must send in a bus invoice and school W-9 no later than 60 days after the conclusion of the trip. 

Prior to Your Visit: 

• Review the General Information section above.
• Book your school visit by completing this form:
  • Guided Tour Request
  • Self-Guided Visit Request
• Once you have received confirmation from the DMA that your visit is on the calendar, arrange bus transportation and receive a quote for the trip.
• Complete the Bus Scholarship Application Form.
• Schools will be notified by email of the Bus Scholarship decision. In busy tour season, this can sometimes take three weeks. 

After School Visit:

• Submit a school W-9 and copy of your bus invoice to schoolprograms@dma.org no more than 60 days after your visit.
• Invoices must be sent 60 days after the conclusion of the school trip. Invoices sent after 60 days will not be processed, and your school will be responsible for the cost of the bus.
• A check will be sent to the school after the invoice and W-9 are processed by the Museum.
